Today is our one morning--our ordinary day--except it is anything but ordinary. Prior to today, September 14 has been just another day on the calendar. After today it will never be ordinary again. Much like May 8. November 25. June 18. March 27. All are dates within the circle of this family. Days that changed our lives for the better. We are on an emotional roller coaster this morning as we contemplate what is about to take place. We are thrilled to finally greet this day--MeiMei Day--although our overall feelings are bittersweet. Today MeiMei will transition from her foster family to her forever family. To most that would seem like a glorious day. It is, for us, but not necessarily for her. While we have loved her for months, even years, the reality is she has not loved us. We know she is going to grieve the loss of those who have cared for her over the past 18 months. How do we explain to an 18 month old that we have loved her from afar--we have prayed for her since before her birth--we are not temporary--we are her forever family in ever sense of the word? We know the answer. It isn't possible. Our request today is for you to pray specifically for MeiMei. Please pray that the God who knitted her together will comfort her. That somehow, beyond fear, language and cultural divide the peace that can only come from Him will surround and comfort her grieving heart.It is my intention to archive the comments from today for MeiMei to read when she is older. We want her to know that from the very day she joined our family she was loved--just like her brother and sister. If you feel so led, please leave your prayers and wishes for our new daughter in the comments section below. I believe someday she will come to cherish your words and wishes.

Mei Mei---since the day your Mommy and Daddy shared their wish for you---we too have been so excited for THIS day. The day you meet your forever family. I just pray that you would take hold of that little heart that is grieving, confused, broken and give her a new song. Lord, we know these things take time-- we don't always understand it, but we know you are working good for your purpose, in your time. I pray for these parents that you would lift them high-- beyond impatience, beyond their selfish needs and show them how to be fully present to this new life entrusted to them. You are doing great deeds right before our eyes and we just praise you right here and now for your amazing work. We love you, Lord! Amen.

Here's the strange thing - we're coming to Guangzhou on Sept. 20-21 to see a friend from college who is adopting. They're staying at the White Swan.

For as long as I have known your parents, they have dreamed of this day. They have prayed for you by name. They have cried many tears, knowing that somewhere out there, there was a little girl that was a part of the Womble family but was not home yet. Today you become a part of a forever family. Not only to the Wombles, but to so many other people that love you although we've never even seen you. MeiMei, you also are being introduced to the family of God. I know your parents will raise you to love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind. Wow! I found your blog a LONG time ago and that was it. Then today something popped in my head and I said, I wonder if they ever got their baby?
How crazy is it that I google you today trying to find the site (I remembered Womble in the name) and todays the day you're getting her! I'm extremely happy for you and your family. I just re-read the whole story from when you found out Mei Mei was the little girl you were getting. It brings tears to my eyes, and I don't even know you personally.
Congratulations, you went the distance (literally) to get this sweet child, and I can't wait for her to someday realize what amazing parents she has!

It's your Aunt Andie!!! I have known about you for a very, very, very, long time. I spent many times on the phone with your mother telling me how anxious she was to meet you, hold you, kiss you, and love you forever. You have the most loving, giving, caring family in the entire world. Your sister and brother have been apart of my life for a very long time and I can't wait for you to become a part of mine.
