"Can we live here now?"...

Ummm,

no J., we can't live here NOW but soon--very soon...

Happy Birthday Daddy...

Today Daddy turned the big 2-9. WOW! We commented this morning about the days when 30 sounded so old. Now that we are on the cusp of it, 30 doesn't sound old at all. Amazing how your perspective changes with time. Sorry...I digress...

PARTY PLANNING: I had to make a Friday 10 PM run to the party store for party balloons. At our house, there can't be a party without balloons and Daddy's birthday is no exception. I did make it without having to string streamers across the kitchen. That was J.'s compromise.

THE PARTY BEGINS: We decided not to make a birthday cake since we knew Daddy had one yesterday at work and he was also having one tonight. On Friday J. and I made muffins to be used as a birthday cake. To start the day, Daddy got to sleep in until 7:30 AM. Mommy tried to convince J. to let Daddy sleep longer but J. wasn't having it. It was time to PAR-TAY! So, off we went to sing Happy Birthday to Daddy (who had one eye open). Off to the kitchen we went for the party. Note the candles in the blueberry and strawberry muffins in the shape of a D. Bet ya can't guess what the "D" is for. We all sang Happy Birthday and enjoyed a muffin together (even MG).

LATER THAT DAY: We went to Nana and Grandaddy's house for Daddy's favorite "Nana dinner" and birthday cake. It was a great time and as always...Nana made a fantastic meal for all.

So, there's a recap of Daddy's 29th Birthday for the archives. Happy Birthday Daddy...we hope you had a wonderful day. You certainly are the best Husband, Father, Son, Grandson, Brother and Friend anyone could ever have. We Love you...

POLL...which hairstyle for MG?...

the Pebbles?

the Punky Brewster?

the Farrah Fawcett-minus the bow?
(or we could call this the Donald Trump)

the Rocker Girl
(sorry I'm not up on my rocker girl names these days)

Yes, she prefers to eat her bows instead of wearing them. They must be very tasty because that's always where they end up. As for the hairstyles...feel free to cast your vote in the comments section.

I'm ready to go outside now...

Mommy: J. go get dressed and we'll go outside and play
J: OKAY!!!!!!!!!!

a few minutes later...

J: MOMMMMMMMYYYYYYY...I'm dressed now!

(Mommy wanting to laugh hysterrically but could not because good Mommy's don't laugh at their children)
(Daddy reaching for the camera)

M: Well, that was a great job Jonathan but let's put on something cooler to wear. It's really hot out there!

Note the bluejeans that are too big, the Christmas sweater on backwards and the shoes on the wrong feet with no socks...but hey...he did it all by himself and that is an accomplishment!

SOLD!

It is official...we have a final contract on our house!!!!! The good news...we are going to lease our current house from the new owners until the end of July when we move into our new house. WOOHOOOO! It couldn't have worked out any better for us.

Mommy! Mommy! there's wood on our bricks...

Peek-a-Boo with MG...

How fun to see them playing together. Peek-a-Boo is one of her favorites these days and J. is happy to oblige.

MG lost interest pretty quickly but she forgot to tell J! He waited under the blanket FOREVER before he realized she wasn't playing with HIM anymore. Ha.

Can you believe she's 9 Months Old...

I love...

-how you you put your right arm in front of your mouth when you are sleepy
-the way you smile when Daddy and J. walk into the room
-how you crawl as fast as you can for every Cheerio that J. drops on the floor
-your semi-toothy smile
-how your face lights up when I open the door after nap time
-when you get excited when it's time to eat and will eat ANYTHING we put in front of you
-that you have your Daddy's eyes
-nuzzle your head into my neck
-the way you give big WET open mouthed slobbery kisses on our cheeks when we say "Keee-issss"
-the sound of you and your brother laughing together
-how your hair hangs down in your eyes without a bow in
-that you already think J. is the greatest friend ever
-how you're learning to clap on demand when we say "Yay"

At 9 months old she can crawl, pull up on anything she want, speak to you in my own language (goo, ga, da, la but of course no ma's), drink from a cup, pick up anything with her thumb and forefinger, recognize people that she knows and much more. After 9 short months, we can't remember what life was like without you. Happy 9 Month Birthday MG! We love you!

The maze...

This week it is called "the maze" because there is so much stuff on the lot to run around it is like a "maze" to him. Hmmm...wonder what it will be next week? We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, this week we have a foundation and a subfloor. Wooooohooooooo! This is so exciting!

P.S. I know you all are going to get tired of seeing pictures of this house. We are excited about it so could you just humor us...PLEASE?

Mr. Picky Pants eats a TACO...

We've always said it would be a cold day in YOU KNOW WHERE before J. would learn to try new things. Well, I think there is a possibility that Satan is enjoying a little cool spell today. (It's a joke people--I don't really think that is possible). Now don't get me wrong, he still has some issues in the eating department but PROGRESS IS PROGRESS! Without further ado, I present to you Mr. Picky Pants and the taco...

Look what I can do...

She is definitely crawling like a pro these days and now she's learned to do THIS...eight months old and pulling up on whatever she can. Huh...not good...not good at all.

Oh, and I know she's having a bad hair day. Please do not suggest that she needs a haircut. It's not happening! Unfortunately, she thinks bows are for eating rather than wearing so hairbows at home are pretty much out of the question. What kind of mother would put slobbery wet bows in her daughters hair? Not this one. Instead, we'll settle for crazy hair days at home.

Welcome Home...

Daddy made it home from his ski trip last night around 10 PM. Woohoo! Six long days without him feels like an eternity. Welcome Home Daddy...we missed you.

P.S. Thanks for bringing home my green necklace. Love, J.

The green necklace...

J. has a green clover necklace. He won it from the prize cart at Dr. Curry's office last spring. He wears it ALL the time. On Saturday, when Daddy was leaving for Utah, J. gave him his green necklace. He told him to "take it with you and bring it back to me when you get home". It was really sweet and somehow seemed like his 4 year old way of saying, "Please be safe and come back home to us very soon". It was a sweet moment. Well, about 15 minutes after Daddy was gone, J. was regretting his decision. He REEEEEEEALLY wants his necklace back. He has asked about his green necklace at least 5 times a day. Where is my green necklace? Can Daddy bring it back? Can we go get my green necklace from Daddy's special trip? etc. etc.

Daddy--here are a few notes from Mommy:
1. Handle the green necklace with GREAT care.
2. Do not wear the green necklace in public. (You may attract thieves who are looking for the perfect accessory)
3. Do not misplace, destroy or alter the green necklace.
4. Store the green necklace in a very secure place...preferably your room safe.
5. If anything happens to the green necklace, DO NOT COME HOME WITHOUT A REPLACEMENT!

See you in a few hours! Fly safely...

Dear Daddy...

Skiing in the snowy mountains of Utah can't be as much fun as being home with us. Can it? We love you and miss you very much. Only two more sleeps until you're back. Please be safe and come home soon!

Love,
the Princess

"Hallo-Peeno" cheese please...

Cheese. To most it is an obvious child-friendly choice...unless you live at the house of Womble. As we have done MANY days before, we decided to break out the mini cookie cutters and play with our food. (We broke the "no playing with your food" rule LONG AGO!) We made "Hallo-Peeno" cheese today and for some reason TODAY it look appetizing. So, he ate THREE "Hallo-Peeno Cheezes" today. THREE, I REPEAT, THREE!!! Can you believe it? With just a little bit of protest he managed to get down three pieces without throwing up. Woohooo!!! Progress...it's a good thing.

Mrs. Rebekah...it's stuck...it went very high...

It's never a good thing when you are met with words like that. I knew it was going to be a good one. I was right. They were supposed to be rolling or tossing the ball but I don't think either of those would have landed quite this high. Rebekah and I wanted to laugh...loudly. Instead, we had to don our best stern Mommy faces and reinforce our discussion on inside ball etiquette (but not before I whipped out the camera for a great photo op). Look at Elizabeth's smile...I bet she's thinking...yes, Mommy, I know we made a bad choice but maybe if I smile sweetly for the camera my cute factor will earn us a few points. Guess what, she was right! We let them off the hook. Why you ask...because we couldn't keep a straight face.

Our dirt...

J. calls our future home many things...the dirt...the construction building...the site...our second home...

Every time we go out J. wants to know if our second home is complete. I always tell him the house isn't finished yet and it will be a long time before it is. His reply..."we should call Handy Manny, he can fix anything". Ha. I think this job may be a little too big for the new Hispanic handyman on Disney channel.
