Maybe...just maybe...

someone has been assessing the situation...

or maybe someone has decided it's OK to trust the new people in her life...
or maybe someone has accepted that you CAN love two families (not just one)...

or maybe someone has discovered that being sad is way too boring when there is so much fun to be had...

or maybe someone declared that exactly one month together is her turning point...

or maybe, JUST MAYBE, "Someone else" saw the tears and heard the prayers of a family who wanted nothing more than to love this precious gift and that "Someone else" showed them the glimpse they had been waiting for...It was a cheesy-faced wrinkled-nose squinty-eyed baby smile. It was a momentary glimpse but it was genuine, true and heartfelt. We've seen a few of these smiley glimpses over the past three days and each one made my heart skip a beat. We're not there. Not even close. But maybe, just maybe, we've stepped away from the starting gate and THAT realization feels good. It feels very VERY good.

Happy 1 month Family Day MeiMei! We love you all the way to China & back again!

Hi Friend. Yay! So glad to see those smiles! I'm glad things are improving for Mei Mei the last couple days. Today is the one month mark. I feel like we've come a long way, but yes, there's so much more distance to cover. I hope you're other two kiddos are handling all the sadness okay. You're not along in this. We'll keep praying.

Your post made me cry! I am following your story and appreciate your candor in this journey. God is good and these moments will become the norm one day. God bless you and your little Mei Mei.

So happy to see at least one smile!!! I can only imagine how difficult the past month has been. Keep hangin in there! God chose you to be her family for a reason. She needed parents with a lot of patience and faith to let her grieve the way she needed. God will heal her broken heart. Just keep lovin on her in the meantime.

You rock. So does MeiMei. It may be two steps forward and one back-but note that you are MOVING FORWARD.
That smile, that squashy lip and nose, that watchful look...oh, she is so cute. And so very real. I hope it does feel good. Our troubles have been different--but I can say from the bottom of my heart that once it starts to get better, it mostly keeps going. Keep your spirit, in every way.

God is Good. There is nothing too big for Him. And nothing too big for you if you hand it over to Him. Our favorite verse in school (Phil. 4:13)--and I love that I can freely say and hear these things in a school environment (BTW). Enjoy those precious moments and thanks for sharing them with your loyal readers.

Awwwww....isn't she precious!! I'm so happy that you're beginning to see tiny glimpses of her smile. The one thing I've been amazed at is how He is so completely healing our children's hearts. In a few months time I think you'll be amazed at the transformation in your beautiful Mei Mei!

That smile is just so sweet. It seems like it has been months not just 1. Little Miss will be the attentive big sister. Even though there are only a few smiles now there will be more with each passing day! She has such a cute personality! Love Mom (aka Grammy)
